8” 440C Stainless Tool Steel Chef’s Knife with Antique Cherry Handle

The wood for this handle is pretty cool because it’s old growth black cherry, reclaimed from a late 1800’s antique bench, which had been made out of an even older bed. The bench legs were coming apart and it was fairly uncomfortable to sit on, so instead of fixing it, I decided to turn it into new things. It’s some of the nicest cherry that I’ve seen, too. You have to respect a material that was most likely a couple hundred years old when it was first cut and put into use more than a hundred years ago, but can still be made new again and should hopefully last for an equally long time into the future.
